Garage sale questions, answered
Everything you need to know about finding and listing garage sales on YardHop.
For buyers
- How do I find garage sales near me?
- Go to yardhop.net/search and enter your ZIP code or city name. You can filter results by date, search radius, and item categories (furniture, clothing, electronics, books, toys, and more) to find exactly what you're looking for.
- Are the sale addresses visible to everyone?
- Exact sale addresses are visible to registered users only — creating a free account takes under a minute. We require login to view addresses to reduce spam and respect seller privacy, in line with our Privacy Policy.
- Can I save sales I want to attend?
- Yes. Create a free account and click the heart icon on any listing. You'll receive optional email reminders the evening before and the morning of the sale so you never miss a deal.
- What if a sale gets cancelled?
- If you've saved a sale and the seller cancels it, you'll receive an automatic email notification right away.
- What item categories can I search for?
- YardHop listings can be tagged with item categories including furniture, clothing and accessories, electronics, books and media, tools, toys and games, kitchenware, artwork, jewelry, sporting goods, and more. Use category filters on the search page to find specific items.
For sellers
- How much does it cost to list a garage sale?
- Listing a garage sale on YardHop is completely free — and always will be. We charge no commissions. The only paid feature is the optional Boost, which places your listing at the top of search results for $9 one-time.
- How do I create a listing?
- Click "List Your Sale" in the navigation. You'll be guided through a 4-step form: basic info (title, address, dates, times), items for sale (categories and description), photos (up to 8), and a final preview before publishing. The whole process takes under 5 minutes.
- How long can my sale listing run?
- Listings can run for up to 7 days. If your sale is a single-day event, set the same start and end date. For multi-day sales (like an estate sale running Friday through Sunday), set the appropriate date range.
- Can I edit my listing after publishing?
- Yes. Go to My Listings in your dashboard and click the edit button on any listing. Changes are reflected immediately.
- What happens when my sale ends?
- Listings automatically expire at the end of the last day of your sale. Expired listings are hidden from search but remain in your dashboard for reference, editing, or duplication.
- Can I host a recurring sale at the same address?
- Yes. YardHop will warn you if we detect a potential duplicate (same address with overlapping dates), but you can proceed. You can also duplicate an existing listing from your dashboard to save time.
About Boost
- What is a Boosted listing?
- A Boosted listing is featured at the top of YardHop search results and on the home page for the full duration of your sale. It gives your listing maximum visibility to local buyers browsing the platform.
- How much does Boost cost?
- Boost costs $9 one-time per sale — not a commission. You pay $9, your listing gets featured, and you keep 100% of whatever you make at your sale. Payment is processed securely by Stripe.
- How many Boosted listings are allowed per city?
- There are a maximum of 4 Boosted listings per city at any time. If all 4 slots are filled for your city during your sale dates, the Boost option will be unavailable until a slot opens up.
- Is the $9 Boost fee refundable?
- No. The Boost fee is non-refundable. YardHop does not guarantee specific results (number of visitors, sales made, or items sold). Boost increases your listing's visibility but results vary.
